dear andy roddick,
okay, wtf? you should have won that match against gasquet today. you got the first TWO sets, and almost had the third for the win... but you didn't close it out. and what ended up happening? gasquet broke your spirit by kicking up the pace and skill of his game, and before you knew it, he walked away as the winner. honestly, he deserved to win. the quality of your game was poor at the end. it was a disappointing way to see you make your exit from Wimbledon (especially when i wanted you to win it so bad this year!). :(
love,
a big big big fan of yours who is finding it hard to support you with such disappointing losses at all the major grand slams

getting your hair cut is always somewhat of a risky activity, and usually i've been pretty lucky with them. i tend to leave the hair salon feeling pretty good about the new hairdo. well... i guess i ran out of luck last night.
my hair was getting way too long, so i decided to go get it cut after work yesterday. there is a place called 'Dramatics' right next to where i live; they offer pretty cheap rates for their haircuts compared to the rest of NYC (starting at $35 for long hair). well, needless to say, i am not happy with my haircut. firstly, it's a lot shorter than i wanted it. secondly, i told her i wanted two layers (instead of the three i already had), but now it looks like... there are NO layers?! thirdly, when i pull my hair to the front i can distinctly tell that both sides are not of the same exact length because one side hangs a little lower than the other. $#@$#@!
wtf, indeed. i can't stop thinking about how much i hate the way my hair looks like right now. i miss my longer hair. i miss my beautiful layers. the ONLY thing that looks good with this new haircut is the way she cut my side-angled bangs. but i can't stop thinking about how the rest of it is such a mess. i can't even focus on work because this is bugging me so much! i have to get it fixed. there's a hair salon in our office building... maybe i'll go to it after work and just get them to put in another layer, and fix the ends so they are at the same freakin' length.
it sucks i have to spend more money now fixing the mistakes of a new haircut. also, i wanted to look good this weekend for my trip to CT, and now my hair is all messed up. boo. :(

you know, i don't think there's one 'Grey's Anatomy' episode during which i haven't teared up, atleast a LITTLE bit. in some, i've let the tears out, and in some rare ones, i've bawled. who knew a tv show could tug at my emotions like that? for some reason, i'm so attached to these characters. i finally finished Season 2. the last episode was really crazy. there were so many scenes that had me choked up, and towards the end, from the moment Denny died, i cried until the end. when did i allow tv shows to turn me into such a sappy basketcase?? i need to get a grip on myself. haha. i can't wait to start the episodes from Season 3 now. i'm so beyond hooked. it's definitely turned into one of my favorite tv shows!
speaking of tv shows, SANJAYA IS OUT! divya and i squealed our lungs out when the result was announced on 'American Idol' tonight. finally, finally, finally. good riddance to bad rubbish, is what i say.
p.s - it's my roomie's birthday! happy birthday, divya. :)

YAY:
- partying it up in Philly on friday night! (from 'Bleu Martini', to 'Cuba Libre', to 'Glam'. lots of drunken fun. :))
- ATLANTIC CITY on saturday night! drove there around 8pm, walked around the Boardwalk, and then had a very yummy dinner at 'Continental' (and the boys were super nice to pay the very, oops, expensive bill at the end of it). drinks&gambling fun began soon after at the various casinos. we eventually ended up at the 'Borgata', which was definitely one of the classier casinos there. verrry nice inside! i'm not much of a gambler, so i just played around on the slot machines with divya. didn't really win much of anything, but it was fun regardless. :)
- delicious lunch at 'Cuba Libre' on sunday afternoon. the place is amazingly beautiful (you really feel like you're IN Cuba!), and the food is mmmm so good.
NAY:
- it's monday... and it's back to, ugh, work.

i'm off to Philly tonight, and then Atlantic City for the weekend! WOOHOO. we're gonna be partying with divya's friends there. fun times ahead. :) i hope all of you have a fabulous weekend!

excited
i can't believe how cold it was this morning! it was so hard to get out of bed. i reeeally didn't want to. waiting for the bus was even worse. the wind chill is the worst. not to mention how the beautiful weather over the weekend (well, mostly friday) was SUCH a tease. i wish it was full-blown spring already. i'm done with winter.
i'm getting hooked on Vitamin Water. divya made me try one when we were in CT a couple of weekends ago and i remember being indifferent about it. but now, i'm definitely into it. and... i don't know why i felt the need to share that? maybe it's because i have a bottle of it sitting on my desk right now.
this past weekend definitely burnt me out. i did too much. i didn't even have the energy or the motivation to go to the gym last night. when i got back from work, i changed into my PJs, reheated some leftovers, and just watched episodes of Grey's Anatomy (i'm still on Season 2, catching up!) until i fell asleep. so lazy, and SO good.
hmmmm. i'm bored. i want to add more LJ friends to my list... so i'm gonna ask you guys to recommend someone from your list? :)

here's a quick recap before i launch into my disgusting story of the day: after divya and i moved into this apt, we had quite a few problems with pests. of course, there was the infamous mouse which i had mentioned in an entry before. (he, by the way, made a few appearances in recent days until ricardo found a hole in our living room closet - coincidentally the mouse's favorite 'hiding place' - and sealed it!) i also had some very unwelcome, unsightly visitors in my attached bathroom ever since i moved in... ROACHES. yes. they are beyond doubt the most disgusting creatures, ever. i was so beyond mortified when i saw them in my room/bathroom. *shudder* anyway, so we complained to ricardo about all of this, and he immediately brought in the exterminator. that guy came about a week and a half ago. he sprayed all these things, sealed up cracks and holes, etc, etc. the next couple of days i found quite a few dead roaches in my shower. since then i hadn't seen a roach in my bathroom or room or anywhere in the apt, so i was at ease, thinking the extermination did its job. little did i know...
so, this morning i got a nasty lil surprise. (i'm cringing as i'm writing this, because even thinking about it is making me queasy inside!) i have this pretty bright orange silky drape over my bed. as in, it is directly over my head as i am sleeping in bed. it drapes over both sides of my bed, but it doesn't cover the whole bed. the drape's width as it hangs from the ceiling over my head will only go as far as maybe the midsection of my stomach. they are not very long, so they don't even touch the floor. the way i have them pinned up, they are sort of hugging the walls on either side. ANYWAY.
i woke up at like 6 because the right side of my mouth was hurting (my wisdom tooth is pushing out on the bottom and it's not a pleasant feeling). i was rolling around in bed for a little, and then fell back asleep. my alarm went off at 7:20, and i snoozed till about 7:35. i finally decided it was time to get up. so i reached over and turned on the lamp next to my bed, then put my head back down for a second... and looked up... AND THEN FREAKED THE FUCK OUT BECAUSE THERE WAS A ROACH ON MY ORANGE DRAPE! RIGHT ON TOP OF MY HEAD! oh my god, it was so fuckin disgusting! and scary! and ugly! seeing its fat dark shape contrasted on my bright orange drape was probably the most startling and heartstopping image, especially since it was clinging to it right over my head! i immediately jumped out of bed, and then had to figure out a way to get it off my drape and somehow kill it, without having it land on my bed. right. NOT an easy task as i later found out when i brought out our Swiffer broom/mop to kill it with...
but to make a long story short, i somehow killed it. it took awhile though. i even had to squish it a couple of times with my gym sneakers before it commpletely died. the damn thing was HUGE, almost 2 inches long! ew, ew, ew!
and now, all i can think about at work is how the fuck it got UP there on my drapes to begin with... i've seen roaches on the floor, but i've never seen them on WALLS! but i guess i was pretty ignorant about them, because after doing a whole bunch of research this morning, i found out a lot of things: the roaches i've been seeing in my room/bathroom are sometimes called 'water bugs' because these 'oriental roaches' are mainly found in damp areas, bathrooms, near areas where water-pipes are situated, basements (bingo!), etc; they can pretty much walk on ANY surface, even up walls (wtf?!) and upside-down on ceilings (oh my fuckin god?!), and they are known to reproduce pretty quickly.
that's it. i'm moving out.
seriously though, i've NEVER lived in an apt that had a roach problem... and i am beyond uncomfortable with these surprise visits. i will have to talk to ricardo again today and tell him to bring that damn exterminator back. i'm hoping the one i killed today was just a stray one that somehow escaped the extermination from before, but let's face it, that's just me lying to make myself feel better about this whole thing. chances are there are more of them crawling around, somewhere, and they need to get wiped out, now.
EWWWWWWWWWWWW! :(

[tennis talk] andy KICKED mardy's ass at the Australian Open quarterfinals last night. woohoo! i didn't get to watch it (boo!) because our cable isn't set up yet, but the score was 6-2, 6-2, 6-2, and andy wrapped it up in an hour and half. hot damn. i like mardy and all, but i want andy to win the Open this year. he's playing pretty damn well and he could totally do it! he faces federer next - gulp! - in the semifinals, and i'm crossing my fingers and toes that he wins. federer is always a toughie and andy doesn't have the best track record with him, but he can do it. he better! hehe. GO ANDYYYY! :) aw man, i miss tennis. i hope the cable is up by tomorrow or thursday so i can catch the last leg of the Open. [/tennis talk]

YAY: aparna and i went to 'Burger Joint' inside Le Parker Meridien (on 57th st, between 6th and 7th) last night, and let me tell you, my burger was DELICIOUS. apparently this casual little burger joint, ironically tucked away inside this fancy hotel, is a bigtime hotspot. their burgers have even been quoted as one of new york's best! and also one of the city's best kept secrets i guess. i would have never found this place if it hadn't been for aparna taking me there. i mean, who expects a burger joint inside Le Meridien?! the place was filled with men and women shedding their suits after work, and young people on dates, and some tourists too. my burger and fries were beyond yummy, the place had a fun vibe to it, and i got to catch up bigtime with aparna. all in all, i had a great time. :)
NAY: i had wanted to check out 'Peep' for the longest time for a number of reasons - it has thai food (and i'm SUCH a thai food junkie!), it's in trendy greenwich village, it is supposedly all pink inside, and it is full of mirrors! the whole concept of 'Peep' has to do with peeping... as in, the floors are mirrored, the ceiling is mirrored, and most of the walls. and get this - the bathroom is all mirrored, and in such a way that you can SEE everyone eating outside as you are in there peeing. (wtf?!) but they can't see you. obviously. it's one of those peekaboo mirrors all along the bathroom walls. crazy, right?! it's a weird concept, but intriguing. so anyway, swathi and i checked it out tuesday night... and boy, what a bummer. the service was good, and the place was, well, interesting. but it was a LOT smaller than i expected (they made it look a lot bigger online!) and the food was not that great. at all. i've definitely had better thai food. as for the bathroom - which i obviously used so i could 'peep' out! - well, it felt REALLY strange peeing and watching others eat right outside. i was highly uncomfortable. i finished my business as quick as possible and got the hell outta there. so, overall, not a horrible experience, but not a fantastic one either. i doubt i will go back. (and oh, it WAS very, very pink.)

this probably won't last too long, i'm thinking. last i checked it wasn't supposed to snow today. but this is a fun little surprise!
