the good and the bad.

YAY: aparna and i went to 'Burger Joint' inside Le Parker Meridien (on 57th st, between 6th and 7th) last night, and let me tell you, my burger was DELICIOUS. apparently this casual little burger joint, ironically tucked away inside this fancy hotel, is a bigtime hotspot. their burgers have even been quoted as one of new york's best! and also one of the city's best kept secrets i guess. i would have never found this place if it hadn't been for aparna taking me there. i mean, who expects a burger joint inside Le Meridien?! the place was filled with men and women shedding their suits after work, and young people on dates, and some tourists too. my burger and fries were beyond yummy, the place had a fun vibe to it, and i got to catch up bigtime with aparna. all in all, i had a great time. :)

NAY: i had wanted to check out 'Peep' for the longest time for a number of reasons - it has thai food (and i'm SUCH a thai food junkie!), it's in trendy greenwich village, it is supposedly all pink inside, and it is full of mirrors! the whole concept of 'Peep' has to do with peeping... as in, the floors are mirrored, the ceiling is mirrored, and most of the walls. and get this - the bathroom is all mirrored, and in such a way that you can SEE everyone eating outside as you are in there peeing. (wtf?!) but they can't see you. obviously. it's one of those peekaboo mirrors all along the bathroom walls. crazy, right?! it's a weird concept, but intriguing. so anyway, swathi and i checked it out tuesday night... and boy, what a bummer. the service was good, and the place was, well, interesting. but it was a LOT smaller than i expected (they made it look a lot bigger online!) and the food was not that great. at all. i've definitely had better thai food. as for the bathroom - which i obviously used so i could 'peep' out! - well, it felt REALLY strange peeing and watching others eat right outside. i was highly uncomfortable. i finished my business as quick as possible and got the hell outta there. so, overall, not a horrible experience, but not a fantastic one either. i doubt i will go back. (and oh, it WAS very, very pink.)

the day is reeeeally dragging by today. i don't know what it is but i'm beyond bored. i feel like sticking a fork in my eye. i'm also drinking too much orange soda and eating too much artifically flavored candy ... injecting all this sugar inside of me! i don't know why, but i just have no motivation to do anything right now. i don't even have a whole lot of tasks today at work, which is almost worse in a way because it leaves me feeling more restless. the amount of work i have today is so little that if i put my mind to it i could finish it in less than 30 mins. which would then leave me with NOTHING to do for the next hour and a half, except twiddle my thumbs and sit in front of my computer, not even having the ability to do pretty much the only two things i do now on the internet - checking gmail and going on facebook. grrr to them for banning those websites.

[begin whining] i just wanna go home so i can watch more LOST episodes! [end whining]

dinner at 'Serendipity' last night was fun! the best part was the dessert ... my friend and i split the chocolate cake, and can i just say, that was the BEST chocolate cake i've had in a long, long time. it was absolutely delicious, just melting in our mouths. mmmm! and we also had the frozen hot chocolate drink, which was equally amazing. yes, as you can tell, we overdosed on chocolate, and yes, we gained 372819450 calories from that meal. but it was worth it.

there are a few cuties who i always see on my commute to work. two white guys and one indian guy. not a bad way to start every morning, right? ;)

is this a pimple i'm feeling on my chin? noooooooooo!

LOST!

alright, forget "grey's anatomy" ... i'm getting hooked on LOST instead! i've already missed a lot of it, but everyone has been talking about it for so long, that i had to jump on the bandwagon and watch it. i remember my sister telling me about it last summer or something but i didn't pay that much attention. anyway, i got the first season DVDs from my 'new york boy'! his friend actually lent it to him and he's been watching it with his brother, but they're almost done with them, and so they're now in my hands. :) i watched 5 episodes last night, straight. haha. i'm such a nerd. i'm loving it so far! dr.jack is soooooo sexy. oh my gosh. and of course, coincidentally, a LOT of the males and females who crashed on that island happen to be very beautiful. hmmm?! i guess it's one incentive to get people to watch the show. ANYWAY! i'm exxxcited to finish watching the rest of it. it's got me hooked already - eeks!

can you tell it's been a long, long time since i've been really hooked onto a tv show? haha. (btw, don't tell me anything about the upcoming episodes - i don't want any spoilers! thanks!)

i'm going to get coffee and dessert at 'Serendipity' on 60th and 3rd later on tonight with my friend. everyone keeps raving about their frozen hot chocolate dessert, so let's see if it lives up to the rumors. i'm glad it's in my upper east neighborhood, so it will easier and quicker for me to get back to my apt, so i can watch more LOST episodes! teehee.

i just had a promising talk with my boss, which reaffirmed my beliefs that he definitely wants to keep me, despite visa issues. hopefully things work out!

i don't know why i have so much energy this morning. i overslept and had to get ready in 20 mins and then dash out to the train! luckily i got ready in such a short amount of time. and, if i should say so myself, i look pretty darn cute today, despite the rush. ;)
