i'm off to Philly tonight, and then Atlantic City for the weekend! WOOHOO. we're gonna be partying with divya's friends there. fun times ahead. :) i hope all of you have a fabulous weekend!

the week has flown by! i can't believe it's friday already. i AM thankful it's the weekend though. it was a really boring week at work, as you can tell from my earlier entry. the weekend is the only thing that gives a break to the mundane routine.

so, i feel very nomadic at work. i'm still here as a temp (until they figure out the visa situation) and since i'm not an 'official' employee, i don't have my own 'official' cubicle or computer or log-in name or email address, etc. so what ends up happening is them moving me around. from cubicle to cubicle. from computer to computer. the last two and a half weeks i was actually at one cubicle and at one computer and i was starting to feel a little settled in ... but this morning one of my bosses comes up to me and tells me a new employee is coming in on monday and they need this cubicle for her. they have to set up the computer for her, the phone line, and so on. he told me to move to one of the other co-workers cubicle for now because she's not in today. and then next week, one of the guys will be out, and i will use his desk. obviously i have to do whatever they tell me to do, but it sucks to feel so ... nomadic. i can't think of another word that explains my situation better. i always have to be ready to pack up and move somewhere else. ironic how it's the story of my life no matter what context, eh? so yeah, i'm a little cranky about this.

anyway, whatever. it's the weekend! i plan to have a craaazy night out tonight with some friends. we might go to 40/40, jay-z's nightclub. and some around places around that area. all i know is, i want to have an obscene amount of ridiculous fun tonight with the alcohol and the boys, because i haven't really let loose in awhile. i've been a good girl for so long i don't ever remembering being silly and spontaneous! i need to cause some drama tonight. ;)

what gloomy weather outside, especially on a friday. not good. it is supposed to clear up later and i certainly hope it does. i'm going shopping with a friend after work. i really want some new sweaters and button-downs or other tops i can wear to work. i also need a new pair of boots because the heels on the ones i'm wearing right now have completely worn off. hopefully i won't end up spending too much because i'm really trying to save up the money i earn from work. it just about covers my crazy rent (ah, why does living in manhattan have to be obscenely expensive?), and that is just ridiculous. i'm trying not to turn to daddy everytime i have monetary needs, especially now that i'm finally a 'working woman'. hah. not that he wouldn't give me whatever i wanted ... i just want to do all this on my own and know, for myself, that i CAN do this on my own.

meeting up with my friend last night went really well surprisingly. it wasn't awkward or anything. a couple other friends joined us too, so we had a group, and it was fun. :) we had some kati rolls - which are so freakin yummy! - and then a couple of drinks at a bar nearby in midtown.

i can't believe it's the weekend already. time is flying by! i wish i was in boston for the weekend. i miss it, more than i admit. new york is great (of course it is - it's THE city!) but i do miss pretty lil boston sometimes. i miss my sister too. i should plan a trip there soon ... i'm thinking thanksgiving would be a good time. i talked to her about it last night and she's excited. she said boston misses me too. aww.

i love weekends. who doesn't. seriously.

friday afternoons at work are so excruciating because the time ticks by slower than ever. i'm constantly counting down the minutes until i can get outta there. not that work is THAT bad. i actually do like where i work and the people i work with, but on a friday afternoon staring at the computer screen and creating performance reports and fixing transactions is definitely not something you wanna be doing. anyway, i was happy to get out a little earlier than usual yesterday (at 4:45) and i thought i would maybe beat the afterwork traffic or whatever. nope. of course not. just my luck - the bus was stuck on 42nd street forever. something was happening and the cops were all around, etc etc. typical new york afternoon. i just didn't want that on friday! ah well, i eventually did get home.

then i had to get ready to head over to a friend's place in brooklyn for dinner. he wanted to cook me dinner. isn't that sweet? i had a really good time there. the food was amazing! he's a really good cook. besides, it was south indian food, and i haven't had such yummy parruppu saadham and vegetable poriyal since i was home and my mom cooked for me. mmmm. it's nice to have a fellow tamilian friend. it definitely is. :) after dinner, we played with his kitty cat for a little. i don't usually love cats but i warmed up to this one pretty quickly. he was really cute. then we went up to the rooftop to check out the view. he had always told me before that he has THE best view of new york city from his rooftop and i was curious to see. i even had to climb this dingy ladder to get to the very top! i did freak out in the beginning but i swallowed my fears and 'stepped up' to the challenge, no pun intended. hehe. the view on top was amazing. simply superb. he has a complete 360 degree view of the city. manhattan skyline on one side, and then queens next to it, and then all of brooklyn around the other side. the manhattan skyline is especially pretty because it's not the typical skyline. and we actually saw stars (!) out last night too. plus all these flights circling around, landing, taking off, hovering around, busy busy busy air traffic up there. i easily saw atleast 30 odd flights in the air. isn't that crazy?? i guess jfk and laguardia get a whole lotta action. hah. it's insane. i love watching flights. i've practically grown up in them. anyway. ah, it was a good night. very chill. it's good to take it chill on friday nights sometimes.

i'm gonna go out to east village tonight to get dinner with a friend and then maybe drinks. we'll see. i had way too much to drink last weekend when the sis was here, so this weekend might be good to just lay low. hmm.

"my best friend's wedding" is on. i love this movie. i'm gonna go watch it until i have to get ready to go out. byeee.
